Preserve Your Family's Precious MemoriesMargie Kerstine and the Temple archive volunteers want to help Temple members transform their collections into meaningful albums, scrapbooks, or itemized archival box. Call Margie at 761-3160 on Tuesday or Wednesday between 9am and 3pm to set up an appointment to discuss how to best organize and preserve your collection.

ArchivesAs a formal standing committee of Temple Israel, the general duties of the Archives Committee are, “to collect, catalog, preserve, and manage the historical property of Temple Israel.”   A dedicated all-volunteer group meets regularly to do just that.

The largest portion of the collection relates to Temple Israel and its members. Information comes from newspaper clippings, photographs, and personal contributions. This material is gathered, sorted, and protected by the volunteer staff.  Files containing materials with information about Jewish members of other synagogues and their congregations, organizations, schools, and business are also included.

The Archives Committee also provides safekeeping for records belonging to the Jewish Historical Society of Memphis and the Mid-South.  For more details, contact Margie Kerstine (pictured here) or call archives at (901) 937-2779.
