  • Rabbi Greenstein at Preaching Series; Volunteers Sought Rabbi Micah Greenstein has once again accepted an invitation to speak at Calvary Episcopal Church's Lenten Noonday Preaching Series. Rabbi Greenstein will speak at the church, located in downtown Memphis at 102 N. Second Street, on Monday, March 15 and Tuesday, March 16 at 12:05pm both days. This year, Temple is looking to provide help at the church's amazing "Waffle Shop" associated with the preaching series. The wait staff is asked to be at the church from 10:15am-1:30pm. Those who can be wait staff servers are asked to contact Judy Royal at jeroyal@aol.com or 683-7959.   • Women's Seder and Rosh Chodesh This celebration with WRJ-Sisterhood on Monday, March 15 at 7:00pm is for the ladies of Temple!   • Cooking for Estival Communities This is another good Mitzvah opportunity, especially for children ages 12 and older. On Wednesday, March 17, from 6:30pm-8pm, make a meal, in Temple's main kitchen, for residents at Estival Communities, MIFA's transitional housing facility for homeless families.   • Cancer Support Group Temple Israel's Cancer Support Group meets every third Wednesday of the month at 7pm (next: March 17, 2010) in the Adult Lounge at Temple. Members of the Jewish community who have been touched by cancer and who would welcome an opportunity to take the journey with others to explore this illness from a Jewish perspective are invited to be a part of the group.   • Rabbi Katie Bauman at TIU Rabbi Bauman makes her "Temple Israel University" debut on Thursday, March 18 at 7:30pm with her presentation "The Pioneer Poet." Rabbi Bauman explores the poetry and essays of Ephraim Lisitzky and shows how his work impacted the Jewish world.
  • Ruach Shabbat Service Make sure to attend the next Ruach service--it's the last one for this "season"--on Friday, March 19 at 7:30pm.
  • Jacobs Camp: Adult Study Weekend; Open House The URJ Henry S. Jacobs Camp is pleased to announce the return of the Adult Study Weekend to its annual schedule!   • New Temple Museum Exhibition This stunning exhibition, which is entitled "Flight: Chagall, Miro and the Plight of Refugees," is on loan from Josh and Joanna Lipman. The exhibit will be on display in Temple's Museum March 22-August 22, 2010 and features twelve works by 20th Century masters representing the struggle of refugees and their search for freedom. This series was organized by the International Rescue Committee, which was established in 1933 to aid European refugees escaping the Nazis. Several of the artists represented are of Jewish heritage and were directly helped by the IRC.  [Learn More...]
  • Raising Jewish Children Classes Rabbi Bauman and Rabbi Grossman, in connection with the PJ Library, will be teaching a new class entitled "Raising Jewish Children" at Temple on these Sundays: March 28, April 11, and April 18, 2010 from 9:15am to 10:15am. The course will be a study and discussion of Anita Diamant's acclaimed book, "How to Raise a Jewish Child." The class will explore the joys and challenges of trying to pass Judaism on to our children and will cover such topics as life cycle events, education opportunities, and ways to make time "Jewish" in our busy lives. Register online for this class. The cost is $15 to cover the course materials. Babysitting, which will include story telling and music, is provided for $15 for one child, $30 for two or more, for the entire course.   • Career Transition Group Temple members David Silberman and Rob Mann have formed a Career Transition Group for Temple members who wish to receive help in various ways to find a job through networking, resume writing, interview techniques, and coaching. The group will meet at Temple from 9:30am-10:30am on March 28, April 11, 18 and then on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month: May 2, 16, June 6, 20, etc.
  • Congregational Passover Seder Women of Reform Judaism-Temple Israel Sisterhood invites you and your family to the 28th Annual CONGREGATIONAL PASSOVER SEDER on Tuesday, March 30, at 6:00 pm.
