MeFTY MeFTY (Memphis Federation of Temple Israel’s Youth) is Temple Israel’s youth group for high schoolers. It is a part of NFTY (North American Federation of Temple Youth) in the NFTY-Southern region, which includes youth groups from Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, and northern Florida.

The main focus of MeFTY is participation in social action projects that lead to charitable giving opportunities while bringing its members together.
MeFTY belongs to its members, existing for their enjoyment, spiritual nourishment, involvement with one another, and involvement within the Jewish communities of Memphis and the world.
MeFTY is involved in a number of activities and events. Be sure to check out MeFTY's photo album!
Purim carnival is a popular MeFTY “labor of love” that brings smiles to children while raising money for charity.
The annual Rosh Hashanah apple cake sale is another traditional favorite!
Community service projects that benefit non-profit agencies such as Hope House, Memphis Family Shelter, and Sophia’s House provide opportunities to help those in need.
Social events like HAM (Havdalah and a Movie) and Shabbat programs (like the interfaith gathering in April of 2008, pictured here) are MeFTY mainstays that bring Temple teens together.
NFTY regional events and conclaves are a hit too! These conclaves, which are “conventions” for Jewish teens, include special programs, services, and activities.

MeFTY elects its leaders, and its officers serve a one-year term under the adult supervision of Youth Director Celia Mutchnick, (901) 937-2781.
The current (2008-2009) MeFTY President is Sami Rosenthal.

Mazel Tov, Celia Mutchnick!
Celia Mutchnick has been named the August 2008 RJ Youth Worker of the Month. Celia was chosen because of her dynamic leadership and guidance of MeFTY.
Celia is in her third year as Temple's Youth Director, and under her supervision, MeFTY has won several regional awards, hosted an amazing regional conclave, and involved many students from a wide variety of backgrounds in local, regional and national leadership positions.
With Rabbi Adam Grossman, Celia is very active in promoting our 20s & 30s group.
