What is JYG? So glad you asked! Junior Youth Group is Temple Israel’s ultimate hangout for 6th-8th graders. It is an opportunity for your child to create long-lasting friendships and fun memories with their Jewish peers. We host a formal event once a month, typically on Wednesday evenings from 6–7:30 PM.

New This Year! We’re doubling the fun with TWO extra informal events each month. From watch parties to study groups in our new teen lounge, they're sure to be lots of fun! Dates and details coming soon.

We’ve got an incredible year planned, and we want you to be part of it! 

Teen Programs

Social engagement
Study groups, watch parties, grade-level Shabbats, a Chanukah party, a Memphis Grizzlies game, a trip to Washington, DC, and more, are in store for those looking to connect to other Jewish teens. 

Teen Programming only (TI Members): $250; Teen Programming only (Non-Members): $450

Madrichim
Our Sunday program for teens to become teacher assistants in the classrooms, learning how to become the next generation of Jewish leaders!

Teen Lounge For Grades 6-12
Looking for an after school hang out to unwind, and spend time? We’ve got you covered. The Teen Lounge is more than just comfy couches and snacks (though we’ve got those too!) This is a place for Temple teens to come and hang out!

Featuring:

• Weekly Hours: Tuesdays-Thursdays 2:30-4:30 PM, Sundays 12-2 PM
• Homework Club
• The Nosh Snack Shop ($1 per snack)
• TV and Video games
• Arcade games

Family

Family Shabbat B’yachad
Three times a year, families come together for a joyful and engaging 30-minute Shabbat service, designed with all ages in mind. After the service, we share a delicious, catered dinner — building community, one Shabbat at a time.

Temple Tots
Our family community for tots! Tot Shabbats are our beloved monthly gathering for little ones and their grown-ups. Each themed Tot Shabbat features joyful Jewish music, hands-on activities, and snacks. It's the perfect way to introduce our youngest to the magic of Shabbat.

What is Tot Shabbat?
Tot Shabbats are an opportunity introduce young children to Shabbat and our holidays in a joyful and family-friendly way that nurtures love for Judaism! Designed especially for toddlers and preschoolers, this engaging experience features a short service of lively songs, fun stories, interactive prayers, and is of course followed by nosh and activities. Our Temple Tots community is welcoming, making it easy for little ones (and their grown-ups) to connect with Jewish traditions of in meaningful and age-appropriate way. 

Our Temple Tot programs are open to the Memphis Jewish Community.
