JYG (Junior Youth Group)

For 6th–8th Graders in the Memphis Jewish Community

JYG is the Junior Youth Group designed for 6th-8th graders who are looking to create long-lasting friendships and memories among their Jewish peers. Our goal is to foster a welcoming environment through interactive programming that allows young teens to have fun and be themselves. While Temple Israel hosts the events, JYG is open to all Jewish middle schoolers throughout the Memphis community.

At the heart of JYG is teen-focused programming, designed by our amazing JYG Board, a dedicated group of student leaders who help shape the youth group experience for their peers. Serving on the board is a unique leadership opportunity that empowers students to develop important skills, including event planning, collaboration, and responsibility. 

Our events are once a month on Wednesday evenings from 6–7:30 PM. In addition, JYG hosts a monthly Teen Lounge Night, giving students a relaxed space to hang out. JYG is all about fun, community, and belonging and we can’t wait for your teen to be part of it.
