We are so happy you're here.

Whether you are joining us for the first time or looking to reconnect to your Judaism in a way that is most meaningful to your spiritual journey, Temple Israel is an open door to an enriching, uplifting, and empowering Jewish life here in Memphis.
For over 170 years, Temple Israel has thrived through its guiding principle to do the greatest good for the greatest number of people, which is why your unique gifts and presence mean so much to the mission of our congregation. With every new member, our family grows richer.
As the largest Reform synagogue in a five-state region, we blend our size with authentic Southern hospitality. Our recently renovated 30-acre campus keeps us grounded. Our Crosstown Concourse satellite space demonstrates our connectivity to the greater community and social action-centered spirit. Even our cemetery—among the oldest in the South—is brimming with life.
Our clergy team and staff look forward to meeting with you and welcoming you personally to our extraordinary Temple Israel community — one uniquely grounded in history, inspired by purpose, and open to all.
Rabbi Micah D. Greenstein

We are a vibrant center for study, music, worship, and spiritual connection. We’re proud to be a meaningful part of the greater Memphis community, serving as a force for good, justice, and kindness. Rooted in Jewish values, we actively work to uplift others, build bridges, and make a positive impact beyond our synagogue walls
Whether you’re drawn to meaningful worship, lifelong learning, engaging cultural programs, social action, or community connection, you’ll find opportunities to connect and grow at every stage of life. By joining Temple Israel, you become part of a legacy of resilience, leadership, and community that continues to shape Jewish life in Memphis and beyond.
Membership includes access to not only our calendar of events and connection points through Temple Tribes but also to our dedicated clergy. Our pastoral team is here to offer guidance, comfort, and celebration with compassion and care.
Families with children will find a warm and nurturing home in our Barbara K. Lipman Early Learning Center, Wendy and Avron B. Fogelman Religious School, and the full range of youth and family programming we offer year-round. We invite you to explore our website to learn more about who we are and what we offer.
